WHAT IS LOW DOSE X-RAY THERAPY?
Low Dose X-Ray Therapy, also known as Low Dose Radiotherapy (LDRT), is a gentle, targeted treatment that uses a small dose of X-ray energy to reduce chronic inflammation and pain. It’s a non-invasive option for patients with osteoarthritis and other inflammatory, degenerative and hypertrophic conditions.
Used for decades in Europe, LDRT therapy is now an emerging option in the United States for select patients.
HOW HEALIOS WORKS
Chronic joint pain and other benign soft tissue conditions often result from inflammation. LDRT uses a precise dose of X-ray radiation to interrupt this inflammatory cycle. The treatment reduces the activity of inflammatory cells in the affected area, relieving pain and slowing disease progression—without damaging healthy tissues.

CONDITIONS HEALIOS TREATS
A multitude of studies have shown that LDRT has benefits, including pain reduction and functional improvement, in the management of osteoarthritis and other benign conditions.
BENEFITS OF HEALIOS
LDRT provides long-term relief from pain caused by osteoarthritis and other painful inflammatory conditions, and can delay the need for surgical intervention.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING TREATMENT
1
CONSULTATION
Patients meet with a board certified Radiation Medicine doctor to evaluate if LDRT is appropriate.
2
TREATMENT PLAN
Most patients receive 2 to 4 treatments per week, with a total of 6 to 10 treatments.
3
PROCEDURE
Each session lasts just minutes. The treatment is painless.
4
RECOVERY
After LDRT, there is no downtime. Patients can resume normal activities immediately.
5
RESULTS
Relief may begin within weeks and continue to improve over several months. Results are typically long-lasting.
